Learning Objectives for "DNA Replication" Section
After completing this section you should be able to perform the following objectives.
1. Briefly describe the process of DNA replication.
2. State why DNA can only be synthesized in a 5' to 3' direction.
3. State the function of the following enzymes in bacterial DNA replication:
a. DNA polymeraseIII
b. DNA polymerase II
c. DNA helicase
d. primase
e. DNA ligase4. Compare prokaryotic and eukaryotic DNA replication in terms of origins of replication.
5. Define telomeres and state whether they are found in prokaryotic or eukaryotic DNA.
6. Name the stages of mitosis and state what happens during each.
