Introduction to Graphing

A graph is a visual representation showing the relationship between two variables. In this tutorial you will be graphing the relationship between the volume of water in milliliters (ml) and the mass of water in grams (g). To obtain the data, students used a graduated cylinder to measure the following volumes of water: 25 ml, 100 ml, 150 ml, 170 ml, and 225 ml. Then, using a triple beam balance, the mass of each of these volumes of water was measured in grams (g). The results are shown in Table 1 in the upper left hand corner of this illustration.
