Direct Fluorescent Antibody Technique: Negative Results

The unknown antigen is fixed to a slide. Known antibodies against the suspected antigen are added. The slide is then washed and viewed under a fluorescent microscope. If the known antibodies with attached fluorescent dye do not correspond to the suspected antigen, they will wash off the slide and the antigen will not fluoresce when viewed under a fluorescent microscope.
