Fig. 12A: Dilution of Bacterial Sample, Step 1

Aseptically pipette 1.0 ml of E. coli into 9.0 ml of sterile saline. This will give a 1/10 or 10-1 dilution of the sample. Using a vortex mixer, mix the contents of the tube.
