Fig. 7A: Osmosis (Cell in Hypotonic Environment)

If the environment surrounding the cell is hypotonic, the solute concentration is greater inside the cell, while the water concentration is greater outside the cell. (The cytoplasm of the cell is hypertonic to the surrounding hypotonic environment.) Water goes into the cell.
