During translational
control of enzyme synthesis, bacteria produce small RNA (sRNA) molecules that are complementary
to an early portion of the mRNA coding for the enzyme. When the small RNA binds to the mRNA
by complementary base pairing, ribosomes cannot attach, the mRNA cannot be translated, and
the enzyme is not made.
