Fig. 7A: An Activator Protein in the Presence of an Inducer, Step-1

1. Transcription and translation of the regulatory gene produces an inactive activator protein.
2. Inducers bind to an allosteric site on the inactive activator protein causing it to change shape and become activated.
3. The activated activator protein is now able to bind to the activator binding site.
