Learning Objectives for "The Life Cycle of SARS-CoV-2"

After completing this section you should be able to perform the following objectives.

 

1. Name the diseases caused by the following:

a. SARS-CoV
b. MERS-CoV
c. SARS-CoV-2

2*. Briefly describe the structure of SARS-CoV-2.

3**. Briefly describe the following steps in the life cycle of SARS-CoV-2:
a. adsorption
b. entry into the host cell
c. replication.
d. maturation
e. release from host cell
4*. Briefly describe how a cytokine storm can lead to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

5. Briefly describe at least one way SARS-CoV-2 can interfere with innate immunity, with humoral immunity, and with cell-mediated immunity.
