Adenovirus infections are endemic, particularly among children and most commonly involve the respiratory tract. Various serotypes of the virus sometimes cause epidemics of pharyngoconjunctival fever, gastroenteritis, acute respiratory disease, and keratoconjunctivitis. Adenoviruses are naked viruses.
