Resisting Opsonization with Mac Proteins
Mac proteins produced
by Streptococcus pyogenes bind to IgG receptors and C3b receptors on
phagocytes. This blocks opsonization by preventing C3b and the Fc [ortion
of IgG from attaching to their corresponding receptors.
