Crossword Puzzles

The crossword puzzles are intended as a study aid to help you learn vocabulary. When using two-word answers in the puzzle, skip any spaces or hyphens between the words.

• Lecture exam puzzles are to be brought to the classroom where you are taking the exam and will be stapled to the back of your exam answer sheet when you hand in your exam. (Web students can hand in their lecture exam puzzle in lab during the day of that lecture exam.)
• Lab quiz puzzles are to be brought to the lab where you are taking the quiz and will be stapled to the back of your lab quiz when you hand it in.
• Each puzzle handed in with the exam or quiz is worth one point of extra credit.

Concept Maps

Concept maps are visual study tools used to organize information and create linkages among the pieces of information. These are optional study tools you can use to help prepare for lecture exams. Initially we will work these out in class and as the semester progresses you will learn to do them individually.

The "Unfinished Map for Printing" is an unfinished concept map with blank boxes to be filled in using the "Keywords and Phrases for Map." To print the concept map:

• Click the printer icon on your browser.
• Click "Page Setup" and set the margins to 0.25 to maximize printing space and click "Landscape." On wider concept maps you might try using 81/2 X 13 paper. Click "OK."
• Now click on "Print Preview." Click on "Shrink to Fit" and then on "Custom." Try varying the percentage until the concept map fits on the page.
• Click "Print."
  

The "Finished Concept Map Webpage" shows the complete concept map for that topic, as well as links to animations and illustrations relating to that map.
